Highlight Submissions are a Go Go

What do I do, how do I this, what do I do?!
Don't panic. Breath. Before you do anything, read this post first.

Can I use the form in the FAQ?
That is currently redirecting submissions into the Sahara Desert. We have a scouting party combing it at the moment, but it seems that Jawas are taking them and selling them on the black market. Do not use the form, otherwise Jawas will get them and we won't.

So How Do I Submit a Highlight?
Send an email to phoenixrage@grifball.com with Subject Line "Highlight Submission" (clicking on the link will do all of that for you). In the email, you must include all of the following:

    Submitted By: your RT account
Link to File on Bungie.net: link to the slot directly
Red Team: Who was red team
Blue Team: Who was blue team
Player of Focus: Who should we keep an eye on
    Score at start of clip:
    Score at end of clip:
    Description:

    Example 1
    Submitted By: Joxer the Mighty
Link to File on Bungie.net: www.bungie.net/Online/Halo3UserContentDetails.aspx?h3fileid=34167635 (pretend it's a clip)
    Red Team: Team White Flag
    Blue Team: Team Beefcakes
Player of Focus: Son of Zaad
Score at start of clip: 4-2
Score at end of clip: 4-2
Description: Son of Zaad goes into a killing spree with no more than 1 second between each kill, then betrayed bomb carrier who got too close, then cried like a little man-girl as the opposing team ran off with the bomb

    Example 2
Submitted By: The Beast Known As Bob
Link to File on Bungie.net: www.bungie.net/Online/Halo3UserContentDetails.aspx?h3fileid=34167635 (pretend it's a clip)
    Red Team: The Communist Republic
    Blue Team: Bro Code
Player of Focus: Earl of Sandwich
Score at start of clip: 2-1
Score at end of clip: 2-2
Description: Earl of Sandwich comes up with a delicious save against the bomb runner, then goes on an unbelievable bomb spree to tie it up again!

What Are the Guidelines to Film Clips?
The highlight portion of the clip (the really cool part) should take no longer than roughly 30 seconds. We ask that when you record your clip, you leave in an additional 10-15 seconds before the highlight portion of the clip and 10-15 seconds after (for a typical max total of 1 minute for a clip submission). Alternatively, if the clip is of a bomb score, wait for the Round Over pop up and for the entire screen to go black. This is so that there is enough room for editing clips together. If you do not leave sufficient room for editing, the clip may be unusable.

What Are You Looking For in a Highlight?
In the words of Tucker, we’re looking for things that just didn’t seem physically possible. Amazing bomb plants, lucky wave rides, massive sword whiffs, whacky betrayals, heart stopping saves, clutch game winning scores: we’re looking for anything that stands out that would be great to present to the Community in our weekly highlight show.

How Long Should I Keep a Highlight on File Share?
Highlights should be saved in the same slot they were submitted from until the Highlights for that week are released. This may take anywhere from 7 to 14 days, on rare occasion this could be longer. If we look for your highlight and it is not there, we will not go looking for it or ask you to upload it again.

Submissions for week 1 are up until we feel we have enough approved video clips to make a full film (could be today, could be Sunday, could be Tuesday, so get them in asap!). Submit away! If you have any questions, stop by WelCom and Help Desk and they'll be happy to help answer your questions.

    December 22nd, 2008

    From the Admins

It has been quite a week here in the Grifball universe. As the dust begins to kick up in the season opening, we have Bleep Bloop And Sector-C1 taking early leads within their Legacy and Rookie League respectively by not allowing a single bomb point against their own nets. A Silver Hippo of Bleep Bloop, Delta Force of Blood Oath, T3hFox of Anonymous and Doc Status of Gaming So Hard came out leading the charge for their rosters with performances above the previous Combined Averages record. Though there are teams with an early season lead in the standings there is still plenty of opportunities for many squads to rally a push for the top three of their division.

With all this crazy game play, we would hate to miss out on documenting some of the best moments that have taken place during week 1. Make sure to be saving your games and editing your favorite clips as we will be collecting highlights this week for our weekly Winter League highlight reel, with commentary by RT staff on the exciting, hilarious and bizarre instances that have taken place this opening week. If you have questions on how highlights work, visit the FAQ.

To help players be aware of all the tools available to them, each week I will be showcasing different resources available to everyone in the League that will hopefully make life easier or add a broader Grifball experience to users. This week I am showcasing a bit of a hidden gem and valuable resource on the Grifball Forum, the Grifball WelCom Committee available on Roosterteeth.com. Founded by CleoMouri, WelCom is the representative Welcoming Committee of Grifball for all new players and teams; they are a group of knowledgeable volunteers with many seasons of experience and are very well versed in how the League operates. If you ever have a question or would like something clarified, definitely give their thread a visit for answers to things that may be on your mind. Rookies may also speak with scotsmanusa, a representative of WelCom and member of Put It on the Pad in the Rookie League, for any general questions or advice involving their league.

If you would like a live audience to be involved in your match ups, look into Someday Night Grifball. If both captains agree to play on a special map arranged for the event, the game is streamed live to viewers wishing to see the action that is taking place in your match as it happens. For more details visit their thread

Things to keep in mind going into week 2. You must either have played Matches 1 through 4 by the end of this week, or have made arrangements to re-schedule them for during Catch Up Week (Jan 19-25th) or during a mutually agreed upon time. For questions or clarifications, post them to the Comments link below. If you need to post a forfeit for matches 3 and 4 you can go ahead and do so, but still make sure to email that you have so I have a record of what teams are no shows for me to look into. Lastly as a preview teaser, we have a great new community member initiated program coming down the pipe that I believe is going to be a great asset to all players and teams in future Leagues. Also receiving some final touch ups is the voting process at the end of the season for the All Star Game. Find out more in next week’s edition of News & Previews.

reminder for all teams on match procedures

    Matches:
You have two matches each week from Dec 15th through Jan 18th for a total of ten matches in five weeks. Games 1 and 2 must be played this week, 3 and 4 next week and so on. If your team missed their second match this week, contact the captain of Game 2 immediately to make arrangements to either (in order of priority)
-Plan to play it during the Catch Up Week (Jan 19 through 25th)
-Play them next week at the regularly scheduled division time as the 3rd match of the night
-Make arrangements for another day/week to play it on.

    Catch Up Week:
Jan 19th through the 25th is the Catch Up Week. There are no regular season matches scheduled for that week. It is intended for any team that cannot make their match due to holiday travel, or due to misunderstandings on the # of matches per week, or a filed and approved Moving Match Date form). Any match not completed by the 25th is automatically reported as a forfeit and counts against the number of allowable forfeits a team can incur in a season.

    Contact Tools:
Not all captains use Xbox Live for messaging. If you are having trouble contacting a captain, check their player profile to see if they have their email available. You can click on it to send them an email. You can also check on the Grifball Forum on Roosterteeth.com to look up if their team has a thread using the Search Function at the top of the forum's page. You can also choose to email me to let me know you are having trouble contacting a captain and what it is in regard to.

    Forfeits:
For this week I'm being more strict on forfeits being awarded as I want to personally look into why teams did not make their matches. If a team did not make their match, send me a message letting me know your team's name and the team that did not make it. Starting next week teams can report a forfeit as normal without waiting for approval, but still send me a message explaining what happened to make it easier for me to track down teams purposely not making matches to dismiss them from the League.

    Standby Registration:
I am always accepting registrations to be added to a Standby queue. If a team is shown to be default or otherwise removed from the League then you will be able to take over their spot in the League. The email must contain the following:
    Team Name
Link to Team Page on Grifball.com
    Captain's RT account name
    Captain's Gamertag
    2nd teammate's GT
    3rd teammate's GT
    4th teammate's GT
Divisions you can play in (see division list on earlier news post for complete listing of division times)

See the earlier news post for additional reminders and procedures along with the Rules link on the left hand side. If you have any more questions, always feel free to message either myself or Moocow or ask your question on the WelCom and Help Desk thread on the Grifball forum.

  • Bullet Grifball Winter League 09 Legacy and Rookie

    December 16th, 2008

    And so it has begun!

Grifball Winter League 2009 Legacy and Rookie has begun!

I am making this short for now but a detailed schedule will be posted soon. Teams are required to play 2 games per week over the next 6 weeks (excluding the All Star Break). the following was mentioned before by PxR.

    Reminders:
-Make sure your team is online 15 minutes before the start of the match to avoid delays.
-1st Match starts 10 minutes after your division time block (Xbox Live dasboard clock)
-If the opposing team does respond at all, send an Xbox Live message to Phoenixrage (so that I have the Xbox Live time stamp on it) or PP Moocow PP stating that the opposing team was a no shown and you'd like to report a forfeit. Do not report a forfeit until Moocow or myself gives the okay to do so.
-When waiting for your second match, keep in mind that between setting up the 1st match of the night and finishing it it could go as long as 45+ minutes in your division's time block before a team is ready for the second match. Please be patient if your opponent's captain has not responded to your second match's invite as they may still be in their first match for the night.
-If the second match team has not responded by the end of your time block, use the same procedure as above to a no show captain of the first match.

    Moving Match Dates
    Reason for Date Change:
How You Contacted Opposing Captain: (Email / RT / Live / Team Thread / IM)
What the Opposing Captain's Respnse Was: (agreed / disagreed)
Copy of the conversation or Link to Team Thread or Comments Pages
I need all the above emailed to me with subject line Moving Match Date if you plan to change match dates. It is imperative to the natural order of the file clerk universe that you CONTACT OPPOSING CAPTAINS IMMEDIATELY if you plan to move a match due to holiday travel as there will be a large influx of requests coming in. The sooner they come in, the sooner I can okay them. Captains are encouraged to accept requests to move a match during the holiday season to either Catch Up Week or to a week before or after the match is regularly scheduled as that is the side that arbitration on my end will favor. After January 5th though arbitration will favor the captain being petitioned instead. Protect your team from bad memory and shady dealings by submitting the above form so that it is on record with the admins, otherwise your team has no protection for a "he said we changed it / we never agreed to change it" situation.

Forfeits Notice from Executive Punishment Administrator Sauron:
If you cannot show up for your opening week's matches, it is imperative to your team's existence that you send me an email with an exact explanation of why you could not make it and why you should not be cut for the rest of the season. Standby teams are salivating for the spots of teams that don't make their matches. Sauron is heartless and cares not for the worries of man, only whether your team will be able to complete their season.

Sorry for the delay of all of this, we will have something a little more flashy up soon. If you have any questions feel free to message PxR or myself.

P.S. Thank you Schooly D for bringing this to my attention.
